If you are experiencing a heating or cooling problem or breakdown we recommend that you make a few simple safe checks yourself before you call for an expert. It may be that you have a simple problem and checking these few quick things could save you a costly call out.
Cooling Problems
- Circuit Breakers: Check your primary electrical panel to ensure that the outdoor unit (condenser) and the air handler(often located in the attic) is receiving power. If the breakers continue to trip do not force them to stay on. This is indicative of a larger issue and we recommend you give us a call ASAP.
- Thermostat: Is your thermostat asking your system for warm or cool air? Check the setting to ensure it is set to cool and the desired temperature is lower than the ambient temperature.
- Thermostat batteries: When was the last time you changed the batteries in your thermostat? It is has been a while )more that a year), consider trying a fresh set.
- Filters: Have you checked your return filters? A clogged filter can restrict airflow and damper your system's ability to move enough air to cool your home or office.
- Condenser: Have a look around the outdoor portion of your air conditioning system. The large unit outside (condenser) should have plenty of room to breathe. Ensure that debris has not landed on or around the condenser. We recommend at least a 2 foot radius of clear area around the condenser to allow it to do its job properly.
Heating Problems
As above, first check your breakers, thermostat and filter! These are very common problems that you can fix yourself.
